Casie's Journey to Functional Medicine

Casie was born and raised in the town of Thibodaux where she graduated high school and met her husband, Drake. They now have 2 beautiful children, Nate and Vera. Casie graduated from Nicholls State University in Nursing and received her Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of South Alabama in 2009. She worked in traditional medicine for 11 years before transitioning into Functional Medicine. Her journey was long and winding after her son was hospitalized at 14 months old with new onset seizures. The years to follow were difficult and tiresome. Countless specialist and therapist and even more diagnosis were to follow. At the age of 6, Nate was diagnosed with Autism. There was nothing Casie wouldn’t do to heal her son, but she feels God had her walk this very journey for a reason. Walking this long and sometimes very lonely road allowed her more empathy for her patients and also guided her to seek more for her family and later…her patients. After knowing for years “there just has to be more,” she found her more in Functional Medicine. Looking at her son’s history, genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle enabled her to help him improve his overall functioning. Through the years she has gained invaluable experience as a caretaker as well as a provider. Casie will complete her certification from the School of Applied Functional Medicine in 2023. She has also received further specialized education from American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine specifically in holistic treatment of pediatric brain conditions such as ADHD and Autism.
